oooooooooooo so what a week:
monday was boring and normal, welcomed back to work with the congratulations and well dones... then plonked on a crappy busy clinic with every patient complaining about anything... even if it was just to emphasis what the person they where talking to in the waiting area was talking about... i hate those kind of days.. they drag like hell!!
tuesday was a milllion times better, and thats possibly an understatement.. i was sitting in on balance clinic with Dr Guy Lightfoot .. which was cool we spent the day doing Caloric tests which basically entails putting water into peoples ears and making them dizzy, then measuring how dizzy they are by recording the activity of there eyes.. it was fantastic and i really enjoyed it, possibly the most interesting thing ive ever done since i started... i might go into it more once im properly qualified, it would be great :), then after work it was off to the trafford center to get Kayte's birthday present, id seen it on the swarovski site and nowhere sold it in liverpool, and since i had my mums birthday pressent to buy too it seemed a good excuse to go to the trafford center, and since it was jons mums birthday too jon came along for the rise to get his mum something.. it was like christmas shopping part deux...
wednesday was boring although i was knackered from the night before's manchester drive and shop, so i was glad of a boring day :)
thursday.. as we know was Kayte's birhday and also my mums birthday so i stayed in and has a nice night with my mum and dad :) the work day however was kewl too, i spent the day over the water in wirral watching paediatric testing, it was really kewl, in the morning we teated toddlers, using this cool test, like normal hearing tests but using toys, which made the whole thing a game to the kiddy.. every time they hear a sound they put the 'man' in the 'boat'.. its really cool cos testing adults can be really well mudane where as kiddy testing is lively and fun. we did tests on babys too where the sit on mums knee and we make noises behind them.. the reflex in babies id to turn to sound, so you can get a go idea of how good their hearing is that way... again its all about making it fun so it was really kewl to watch, and the kiddies are sooo cute!!
in the afternoon we went to arrowe park and did tests on even littler babies using electrodes, which was cool cos its all about electric signals from the brain and stuffthey only did two tests and it took all afternoon to do.. mainly because once the electrodes are on the baby has to go to sleep to have the test done... and babies dont sleep just cos you want them to!! one had to be sedated, and whe we tested her it turned out she was profoundly deaf, it was a real shock cos has was really interactive and her mum and dad didnt even have suspicions aout her being deaf, it was so hard sitting there and hearing them get the news, i wanted to give the mum a hug, i felt so sorry for them, once it had hit home and the inital tears where past, the started straight onto cochlea implants, hearing aids, speech therapy and all this kind of stuff, it was interesting bt hertbreakingto listen to, the baby had impressions of her ears taken and will be now a prority to get a hearing aid, or she will never develop speech then she has a cochlea implant asap cos that will improve her chance even more of developing speech and then it will be constant help throughout her life with her hearing... crazy amout of stuff for her pernts to get to grips with.. especially sonce the deafness was caused by meningitis, and theyve only just gotten over that trauma!!
friday was party day :D work passed fairly uneventfully.. and then to the party :) after waiting an hour for my taxi to show (fecking taxis) i transported my drinks to kates.. where the taxi driver informed me he didnt have change of a ?20 .. which is all i had .. or a ?10 which was all kayte had..then kayte raided her purse and found the necessary cash for the fecking arsehole driver... it was like "hi kayte happybirthday do you have some money for the taxi for me?" - great start!!!!! then i gave Kayte her pressy :) she seemed quite happy with it (you soppy laydee :P ) and a got my first look at the bountyful drinks in the kitchen ... cocktail heaven... we nipped over to see Lexy before the party got underway and then got back to start the merriment :) i had a gret night making different coloured drinks :) i hoped people enjoyed drinking them as much as i enjoyed making them!!! it was great fun!!!
saturday was kiddy day laura and luke came down and bounced on my hangover :) then i watched "britains best sitcom" which im disappointed to say only fools and horses won ... but Blackadder came second so im made up about that :D
and that brings me up to date .. today ive been chilling :)
